5 Tips to Stay Cool in the Summer

As we all know, summer is EXTREMELY hot, but I’ve found ways to make sure you stay cool during the summer while also not wasting that much money on air conditioning!

  1. Go to the pool/splash pad: Going to the pool/splash pad not only provides cold water for the scorching season, but it also entertains children, teens, and even adults! This is one of the best ways to get cool!
  2. Turn off your lights: The summer provides light until about 8 o clock at night. Therefore, you can turn off the lights to not only get cool, but to also save money on your light bill.
  3. Don’t use the stove as much: Summer is DEFINITELY not the time to be cooking on the stove, as it provides wayyyy too much heat!
  4. Use cotton: Wearing cotton clothing keeps you cool during those hot summer days.
  5. Wear light colors: What I mean by this is to wear colors like white and yellow, because dark colors are known to actually attract the heat!( I know this because I had a science project based on it.)

10 Tips to Keep a Healthy Heart

  1. Avoid fatty foods: Cut down on fried foods and fast food.
  2. Be active: Exercise at least 3 days a week, and at least 60 minutes per workout.
  3. Always Monitor your Blood Pressure: Untreated blood pressure leads to heart diseases.
  4. Avoid Alcohol and Cigarettes: Smoking causes coronary heart diseases which can be deadly if not managed properly.
  5. Do yearly check-ups: This will help you know your cholesterol level and treat them if it is high.
  6. Avoid stress: Stress is one of the main causes of heart attacks. Try to avoid stressors.
  7. Achieve and Maintain a healthy weight: Make sure to stay at a healthy weight according to your body mass index.
  8. Get enough rest: Get at least 8 hours of sleep every night.
  9. Nothing in excess: Even exercises and dieting should be in moderation.
  10. Enjoy your Life! Try as much as possible to be happy and healthy and be in the company of happy people. Avoid negative and toxic people around you.

  1. Berries help Diabetes: Berries improve your blood sugar and insulin levels. This is a very good benefit for diabetic people.
  2. Berries have lots of Nutrients: Berries have vitamin c, manganese, folate, copper, and vitamin k. Berries are also low in calories.
  3. Berries help with inflammation: Berries are filled with antioxidants that help fight inflammation in the body.
  4. Berries are good for the skin: Berries help reduce the amount of wrinkling on your skin. Ellagic acid is found in the berries which helps with the skin benefits.
  5. Berries reduce the risk of cancer: Pterostilbene is found in berries which helps fight against cancer. Ellagic acid is a pterostilbene also found in berries.
  6. Berries help constipation: Berries have alot of fiber in them which is why they help prevent constipation.
  7. Berries help acne: The antioxidant in berries help cure your acne, so the more you eat them, the better for you!
  8. Berries help you lose weight: Eating one whole cup of berries is low in calories, but high in needed nutrients. That is why these fruits help you lose weight.

6 ways to help the environment

Today, I’ll be helping you help the environment. Here are 6 ways that you can help your environment.

  1. Use cars less: Try to walk or bike to a location instead of depending heavily on your car. This helps you protect the environment and maybe even shed some pounds!
  2. Recycle, Reduce, Reuse: Recycling is the process in which you reuse items to make new things. Reducing is decreasing the amount of trash we produce. Reusing is finding a new way to use the item without throwing it away.
  3. Bring your own bag: When you are going to the store and you’re not buying that many items, you can bring your own bag to reduce the amount of plastic that you use. Not only that, but you can also have reusable water bottles, straws, and plates.
  4. Shorten shower time: For all of you shower singers that spend 45 minutes having a concert in there, you probably need to cut the amount of time you spend in the shower. This helps save gallons of water!
  5. Turn the water off when brushing: When you are brushing your teeth, turn the water off until you need to rinse it off.
  6. Use rechargeable batteries: Believe it or not, there are rechargeable batteries! This not only reduces the amount of batteries bought, but it also decreases the amount of money spent on the batteries.

10 ways to get good grades in middle school

Middle school can be really tough. You have to go through peer pressure, stress, and GRADES! I’m going to give you 10 tips on how to make it out of middle school with good grades.

  1. Get organized: Before you even start with all of the studying, you need to get organized. Make sure all of your work and notes for each class are organized in your dividers.
  2. Pay Attention: Paying attention in class is very beneficial for you as a student because they will discuss things that will be shown on your tests.
  3. Don’t get Distracted: Many people in class don’t care about their grades at all. Ignore their distractions and make sure that you are engaged with the class.
  4. Study: Reviewing your notes can really help you understand the curriculum. Believe me, studying isn’t the best thing in the world, but you have to do it in order to succeed.
  5. Ask for help: Your teachers are there to help you understand the topics. If you find yourself stuck on a subject, ask your teachers if they can walk you through it.
  6. Do your homework: Doing your homework is practice for the topic you are learning in class. Make sure you aren’t just giving it to your parents to do for you or copying off of someone else.
  7. Turn in missing work: 0’s in the grade book can greatly drop your grade. Turn in all of those assignments so that your grade is better. Remember that anything is better than nothing.
  8. Ask for extra credit: Extra credit can really bring your grade up. Kindly ask your teacher for the opportunity to increase your grade and they will gladly help you.
  9. Go to tutorials: Tutorials really helps you get a reteach of the topics you might not understand. Going to tutorials means you get extended class time and you should take that opportunity.
  10. Don’t procrastinate: Procrastinating is a very, very bad choice. I know people are getting really tired of hearing this over and over again, but there is a reason for that. Procrastinating can result in 0’s which results in a low grade which is the exact opposite of what you are trying to achieve.

5 Tips to Save Money

You probably spend money everyday on items from shoes, food, electronics, etc. Although this may be fun, we spend way more than we probably should. Here are 5 tips on how to save money!

  1. Determine a want from a need: Think to yourself, “Do I really need to buy those expensive clothes?” I understand if you feel that you need new items, just don’t go overboard with it.

2. Don’t eat out all the time: Not only can this badly affect your health, but may also cause you to spend more money on your food. Just buy a few groceries and whip out a cook book. This lets you save money and also know what exactly is going into your food.

3. Keep track of your spending: Make sure that once you buy your items, you’re checking to see the total of each week/month. This helps in showing you how much money you are spending during a period of time so that you will know if you need to cut back on your spending.

4. Write a shopping list: Writing a shopping list lets you know all the things you really need to buy from the store. Make sure that you are not adding any extra items while your at the store, to prevent you from buying things you really don’t need.

5. Do price comparisons: Check out several items at different stores to see which is cheaper. For example, if a pack of apples is $3.00 at Kroger, but $4.00 at Walmart, then you would likely buy from Kroger.

5 tips to Lose Belly Fat and Stay Healthy

Obesity is one of the major diseases that has all of the world worried. I’m going to be showing you 5 ways to not only lose belly fat, but to also continue to stay healthy throughout your life.

  1. Eat a High Protein Diet: High protein foods, such as fish, lean meat and beans, are the perfect choice if you’re trying to shed some extra pounds.
  2. Do aerobic exercises: Going on the treadmill, taking a power walk, or riding a bike for 60 minutes at least 3 days a week will easily help reduce your weight.
  3. Cut back on Carbs: Cut down on soda and desert intake. Do we really need to eat that big tub of ice cream in our freezer? We can do without them sometimes.
  4. Get lots of sleep!: Get at least 8 hours of sleep every night.
  5. Don’t eat dinner too late: Eating late at night is not good for weight loss.

10 Tips on Managing Stress

Stress is everywhere we go, at work, school, home! Stress is annoying, exhausting, and, well, Stressful, but never fear, the tip doctor is here! Here are 10 different ways to relieve your stress!

  1. Listen to music: Playing calm music can ease your stress and even lower your blood pressure!
  2. Breathe easy: This actually works very well in stressful situations. Simply breathing in and out can calm you down while undergoing stress.
  3. Sleep longer: Sleeping 8 hours or more can really help during stressful times. Sleeping better helps you get the rest you need to boost yourself through the day.
  4. Talk about your problems: Talking it out with someone can really help you let it all out and get the support you need.
  5. Eliminate/Reduce your Triggers: This is a really big one for people in school. If you are too stressed over having way too many assignments, it could be because your procrastinating. Make sure that you are very organized so that you know exactly when an assignment is due and how/when you plan to complete it.
  6. Take a Break: People also have big issues with over working themselves. Make sure that you are taking enough breaks, but not slacking off too much.
  7. Take a Walk: Walking helps you feel better about yourself and gets your mind off of the stack of papers laying on your desk for a while.
  8. Do what you actually like to do: Playing soccer or doing whatever you like to do helps calm you down and relieves your stress.
  9. Embrace your mistakes: Take your mistakes as a lesson, but don’t dwell over them! Also make sure that you are not focusing on how to be perfect because no one is perfect!
  10. Have a stress diary: This is pretty similar to talking to someone. Having a stress diary also helps you get all your stress out.
